flying the flag colours

Country colours

Time to fly the flag or at least to use the colours of your countries flag.  That means challenge time again over at 613 Avenue Create.

If you prefer there is always the 'anything goes' theme as well.  The choice is up to you.  We look forward to seeing whatever you make.

My colours were the red, white and blue from the UK's flag.  Okay, I kinda took liberty and made two cards not one with all colours.

I used Tim Holtz's sentiment dies and the blue flowers are also a Tim Holtz die.  The floral die on the red card is from my craft stash and I can't remember who made it.

Sometimes you just want the quickness and professional look of using dies.

Don't forget to check out the fabulous makes by all the design team when you visit our blog.

I will be entering the above into the following challenges;

A Place to Start

New challenge time;

Yep, a new challenge is going on over at 'hereisaplacetostart' and we would love for you to come and join in the fun.

The theme this month is 'anything goes', so no excuse to have fun and get creating.

For my DT make I opted for Clean and simple style (CAS).  The first being a simple card  and then a basic bookmark.

The stamps I used are from two sets by Aall & Create, set #83 designed by Fiona Paltridge and set #154 by Tracy Evans.  The little girl character is called Lilith and I fell in love with the childlike qualities and couldn't resist using her or part of her on each creation.  The sentiment that comes with her is a must have 'believe in the magic of a smile'.  As card-maker's and crafter's we know how much making and receiving a card means.  A simple card with such a beautiful sentiment would mean a lot to anyone, especially out of the blue.

The simple card is using one of Tracy's flowers, combining the beauty and simplicity of nature along with a smile is a perfect combo in my book.

For the background of the bookmark I simply added some distress oxides and water to blending mat and 'smooshed' the card over it.  The colours I used were; worn lipstick and dusty concord - both from the Tim Holtz Ranger series.

I hope you've enjoyed my simple creations and I truly look forward to seeing your work.  Happy crafting everyone.

To see some of Aall & Create's products at their best please check out Tracy's youtube link.... you will have seen lots of her projects in craft magazines....

Anime new release

New Anime Release

Time seems to be going so fast!  It's time again for more fabulous Anime release's at Scrapper's Delights

We are being treated to another amazing male digi... after all we all have those awkward teen cards to make.   It can also be used for those in college or university.  The added locker's image helps to create a scene and would be great for those school day's scrapbook pages.

I used an 8x8 white card, slightly inked some card from a Stamperia paper stack (SBBL22).  The sentiments are from '7 dots studio - nature walk and hazy days'.  The sentiments work perfectly with the scrap-booking feel of the card.

The images are coloured using Copic pens.

Here is a teaser for more upcoming digi's from Scrapper's Delights.

Don't forget we have an 'anything goes' challenge blog and would love to see your work.  There is also a progressive challenge in our facebook group.

I will be entering my card into the following challenges;

New Progressive Challenge

June's Progressive Challenge

Time again for another progressive challenge over at Scrapper's Delights and this time you get a fantastic double digi image.  Perfect for Father's Day.

To join in the challenge you can find the details in the facebook group

There is also an 'anything goes' challenge on over on our blog, alongside inspiration from the design team.

Here is my creation.

I chose the boy image and went for a slightly distressed vintage look.  I tried to limit the colour use to sepia tones and tucked the digi slightly behind the rope.

Although the digi had a football and trophy the papers I used were by 'Stamperia' and called 'Sea Land'.  I inked the papers with 'vintage photo' distress ink and sprinkled water on to give a mottled effect.

With the digi being 'football themed' it would be easy to create using a person's football team colours.  I guess in this case the team is from waaaaay back (hence the vintage) lol.

Looking forward to seeing all of your work in our challenges.

I'm hoping to enter this into the following challenges;

challenge blog

A Place To Start.....

There is a new challenge over 'here is a place to start'.  This time we ask you to use a favourite stencil that you have.  I'm sure you will have plenty to choose from.

I used a new stencil that I have only just received.  It is already a favourite and I have used it in many creations.  In some makes I used vintage tones to work alongside piano keys.  In this I opted for modern bright colours.

It was a chance to get all inky using two of Tim Holtz's distress inks... 'picked raspberry' and 'dusty concord' which are my 'go to' colours.  After inking I simply added water droplets.

The sentiment and the stencil were both from a favourite outlet of mine and can be found here

The digi image is 'Anime Mia' from Scrapper's Delights who do amazing creations to work with.  The Anime ones are perfect for those awkward teenage cards.

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the design team have created.

I look forward to seeing your wonderful work.

I used the Gemini Anime digi.

I used some gingham card stock from craft stash, which was matted onto white card.  The girls were coloured with coordinating shades using a mixture of Promarkers and Copics.  The wording is from Tim Holtz 'big chat' pad #TH93192,  the white leaves are from  Tim's funky floral 2 set #662701.  The flowers are a mixture of Dovecraft and from my craft stash.

For more inspiration please check out the Design Team's creations here.

May's progressive challenge

New Challenge;

Time seems to be going so fast this year.  It's already time for May's Progressive challenge at Scrapper's Delights.

We were spoilt last time with male elf to colour, which created a lot of positive feedback.

This time we have beautiful image that can be used for Mother's day, female birthdays etc.  Please check out the details on our Facebook page.

We also have an 'anything goes challenge' on our challenge blog.

Here is my creation for the DT.

The girl image and the sentiment 'just for you mum' are available for the challenge.  I chose more traditional colours this time rather than Anime bright hair etc.

The papers I used are from Craft O'clock ... and remember range.  I layered the components and papers onto white card, although they are strong enough on their own and of a high quality.  The papers were also curved to give more dimension and die cuts also used to add extra interest.

Don't forget we have this voucher you may use on some of the digis by Scrapper's Delights and look forward to seeing what you create.

Fab challenge blog

So excited -

I am now part of the fabulous Design Team over at A Place to Start challenge blog.  I truly hope that all you crafter's, colourists will pop over to take part in there challenges that are twice a month.

The theme for this challenge was to use a method that is one of your favourites.  I opted for the shaving foam and distress inks method.  Can be a tad messy but soooo much fun.

1. It's best to use the shaving foam without gel, a lot of the cheaper ones do not have gel in them.  I sprayed onto a glass cutting mat and smoothed it over using a ruler.

2.  I then spritzed and added droplets of the following inks; picked raspberry oxide, picked raspberry, picket fence,  and also on some parts added... abandoned coral and squeezed lemonade to turn the colour a slight peachy effect. I then used a pointed object to make swirly patterns in the foam.

3.  White card was placed on top and gently pressed down to ensure full coverage..

4.  The messy bit is to lift the card, you may panic when you've done this but please don't.  The magic will happen when you scrape off the foam using a ruler or piece of card to reveal your very own unique pattern.

As you can see I batch-made some.  The blue/green pattern was used by using; cracked pistachio, mermaid lagoon, picket fence and in some I added Mowed lawn inks.  I have plenty left to create book marks, cards, ATC's.

Here is my first creation as part of the Design Team for A Place to Start.

I wanted to create a C.A.S make.  I die-cut the marble creations into different size circles and added some sequins for a bit of texture and bling.

The digi image is from here. I coloured using Copic pens in colours that I thought would work with the ink tones.  To give a slight arty feel I layered the card at an angle and added the words...  'choose sunshine memories', these are from Tim Holtz's big chat pad which is an essential for cardmaking, journalling and scrapbooking. They have them in white and in black.

The second creation is a simple card. I added the die-cut 'thanks' but any sentiment would suit it, even suitable for a sympathy or thinking of you card.  They are quick to batch make if you need to.

The foliage die was a bargain buy at a craft fair for just £1.

I hope that you take part in the challenge at Here is A Place to Start.  You will see that we are more than just a challenge blog and have tutorials,  hints and tips to help you develop and enjoy your creating to the fullest.

Happy Crafting x

I hope to enter the above cards into the following challenges;

Chibis

New release;

Chibi Gemini VIP

Before I show or tell anymore about the new release over at Scrapper's Delights, I'd like to share a sneak peek of a future release.... ready, steady. go...

If you are like me you'll be waiting impatiently for them.

The digi I used in my creation is the VIP chibi for Gemini which you can receive free as part of a special deal.

For this make I wanted minimal colours used which were done using Copic pens.  Under the lattice die I used the shaving foam and distress inks method.  The inks used were; 'mermaid lagoon' and 'cracked pistachio'.  I have added the pictures of the inking during and after, if you haven't tried this method you really should give it a go.  It's so much fun.

Above is shaving foam spritzed and droplets of ink added, then using a knitting needle or similar shape just add swirls.  Press some card lightly onto the foam ensuring overall contact.  When you lift the card up you will probably panic!  Please don't... use a ruler or piece of card to scrape the foam off and then see what you have created.

For more inspiration please check out the Design Teams work here.  Why not get creating now and enter the monthly challenge that we do over on our challenge blog.

I hope to add my card into the following challenges.

just for fun

Creating just for fun

As the title say's... sometimes you just want to create for the sake of creating (playing and avoiding housework also count).

For today's make I used papers and stickers  by 'Prima Marketing' via Thompson's supplies.

The adorable digi is from the one and only  The Paper Shelter and can be found here. The image is called 'not big enough' and I guess it can be said for cake and ice-cream.

I used Copics to colour the image and several dies, layered to give some dimension and delicate interest.

V.I.P  deal-time

Yes it's time again for some more gorgeous digi offers over at Scrapper's Delights.

https://www.scrappersdelights.co.uk/store/p217/VIP_Deal_Taurus.html#/

My inspiration make is using the Anime Taurus image that you get free along with many components that can be used for your card-making, scrap-booking, mixed media projects.

I coloured the image with a mix of pro-marker's and Copics,  I used recycled card as a base and distressed the edges, added a blue wood effect paper, then got the texture added using different flowers, some with delicate mesh detail added and some hessian ribbon along with ribbon leaves.  The rope edged topper comes with the kit as do the word sentiments and banner that show the dates for a Taurean and some of their qualities.

progressive challenge

New progressive challenge

Scrapper's Delights have a new progressive challenge starting now!  You can enter through the facebook group or by their challenge blog. Spoiling you even more you can check out the design teams amazing creations to help inspire you.

We are all being spoilt this time as we have a male image to work with.  Teenage cards and men's cards are always awkward but no more.  The elvin warrior would tie-in great with many of today's tv shows where the heroes brandish bows and arrows.

I wanted to make image stand out as the main focus therefore coloured with copics and promarkers  trying to give detail to the shading and layered slightly with foam tape.

  The background was mainly white card stock, however I masked off a circle and used distress inks to make it look like a night sky.  Different dies were used to give added detail and texture all using white card for a subtle look.

I hope that you have as much fun as I did colouring him and look forward to seeing your creations.

Don't forget to check out the store for more amazing digi's.

colouring fun

Colouring fun

I love the work of the amazing Hannah Lynn and have used this stunning image of hers to make a card for a dear friend.

The images always give the colourist the chance to practice hair and shading techniques and are a pleasure to colour.

The latest issue of Colouring Heaven is steampunk by Hannah Lynn and is a must have.

More of her work can be seen here.  There is also her facebook page and a Colouring Heaven fb group.

Here is the card I made using an image that is free on her site.  I added it to a background created with inks and shaving foam to give a marble look and then coloured the image using a mixture of copics and promarkers.

Anime VIP deals

 Zodiac Arise

Scrapper's Delights have added to their images today, with a fantastic deal.  The chance to get an amazing 'Aires digi' when purchasing their Anime VIP deal.

Details on purchasing are here

There are many images to create special projects, cards, scrapbooking etc.

For inspiration please do not hesitate in visiting the design teams inspiration blog.

Here is my creation for the team.

I started first by creating a background using the good old shaving foam and inks method.  I chose to use 'picked raspberry', 'dusty concord' and 'blue lagoon' distress inks by Ranger.

I then coloured the stunning image using a mixture of pro-marker's and Copic pens to work alongside the ink tones.  There are many additional items with the image, I used some of the stars and some of the words that describe the qualities of an Aires person.  I added the words to die cuts of tags which were made with white card stock and purple cosmic scene card.  I added some sequins and other sparky embellishments to look like an asteroid field.

I hope you liked my card and that you will also check out the monthly progressive challenge that we run at Scrapper's Delights.. this can be done via fbhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/376140345820051/?epa=SEARCH_BOX or the challenge bloghttps://www.scrappersdelights.co.uk/challenge-blog#/.  I look forward to seeing what you create using some of Scrapper's Delights digi images.

Happy crafting and colouring.
